Equal parts jazz club, dance party and live remix experiment, CHURCH is a musical journey of no boundaries and endless surprises. Globetrotting musician/producer MARK de CLIVE-LOWE leads live sets interpolating jazz, improv, organics, technology, beats and dancefloor electronica into a melting pot of sounds and styles unlike any other. Joined by a stellar cast of musicians, vocalists, DJs and spontaneous guests from LA and beyond, each and every session is a totally unique and individual music-lover’s experience…

CHURCH is MdCL’s resident clubnite in Los Angeles and New York. A whirlwind mix of live jazz, sampling and DJ set, CHURCH is fast becoming the discerning music-lovers’ and musicians’ event of choice. The first live set showcases the jazz side of MdCL, blending jazz history, groove explorations and classic trio interplay with resampling, electronics and live remixing. As the first set draws to a close, the guest DJ takes over the soundtrack before MdCL to flip the script with the second set – a unique blend of live electronica and live remixing – the jazz club colliding head to head with the dance floor. Curated by de Clive-Lowe, guests have included the best of jazz and soul musicians including Chris ‘Daddy’ Dave (Mos Def/Common), Questlove (The Roots), Mark Kelley (The Roots), James Genus (Herbie Hancock/Chick Corea), Nia Andrews (Common/Janelle Monae), Jean Grae (Talib Kweli/The Roots), Leon Mobley (Michael Jackson/Stevie Wonder), Ohmega Watts, Sy Smith, Greg Hutchinson (Joshua Redman), Dwight Trible (Pharoah Sanders), Miguel Atwood- Ferguson (Suite for Ma Dukes), Nate Smith (Jose James/Dave Holland) and many more.
